The River Manager functions as the leader of rafting operations within the company, maintaining communication and relationships within the River & Fishing department and with other company business partners.
The River Manager is accountable for overseeing company river operations and ensuring compliance; monitoring service quality and guest experience; effectively troubleshooting issues as they arise; driving guest and staff safety excellence; providing training, coaching and performance management to guide staff; ensuring staff clearly understand expectations; managing resources to maximize efficiency; and leading by example. -Continually drive customer safety, with a focus on fewer swimmers -Promote staff involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively eliminate hazards
-Respond to critical situations in a timely, effective manner
-Report injuries and incidents in accordance with company and state regulatory agency procedures
-Select trainees and oversee the guide training program
-Select and mentor trip leaders
-Monitor trip leaders to ensure the accuracy of their reporting
-Verify all guide certifications, river logs and river section documents are up to date and filed properly
-Proactively secure guide commitments for the historically busy time periods and special events
-Draft and post the schedule of river trips and notify guides as needed
-Maintain an open line of positive communication with the reservations and transportation staff
-Respond to guest and staff concerns in an efficient, timely and accurate manner
-Consistently monitor the inventory of river related equipment and oversee proper storage
-Ensure the guide staff are provided with essential equipment
-Compile, review and approve payroll in a timely manner
-Attend and actively participate in scheduled operational meetings
-Maintain a working knowledge of applicable rules and regulations
-Perform other duties and responsibilities that may be added at the company's discretion
REQUIRED
-Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team
-Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and adapt to changes in the work environment
-Ability to work at a fast pace with frequent interruptions
-Basic written and verbal communication skills
-Capable of performing basic computer functions
-Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and the ability to drive a large vehicle
PREFERRED
-Working knowledge and relevant experience in the outdoor industry, specifically whitewater rafting
-Demonstrated ability to supervise the work of staff including hiring, training, counseling, evaluation, and disciplinary matters
-Strong problem resolution and interpersonal skills
-First Aid and CPR or other higher medical training certification
