Job Description
Social Media Coordinator Empire State University seeks a Social Media Coordinator in the Office of Communications. The social media coordinator will work as part of a team that handles the day-to-day responsibilities of managing Empire State University's organic social media platforms, including creating content, scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and responding to inquiries. This position will report to the director of communications and work closely with the communications, marketing, and special events teams, as well as with departments and programs across the university and outside vendors.
Responsibilities include: - Work with marketing and communications teams to map out content based on enrollment trends
- Regularly pull and analyze performance data to inform future strategy
- Assist in formulating new and engaging content ideas
- Work with the communications team to determine how content from other areas can be repurposed across social media platforms
- Provide photo and informal video coverage of events as needed (including those held on evenings and weekends) for the purpose of social media posting
- Work on tight deadlines to create and post quickly when needed
- Coordinate, curate, and edit photos and footage submitted by members of the university community for social media
- Accurately and professionally monitor and respond to/engage with organic social media comments and inquiries and seek assistance and support when needed
- Work with internal stakeholders to arrange assets needed for social media planning and posting
- Write and edit accurate social media content that is grammatically correct and adheres to university style and social policy
- Stay up to date with social media creation and monitoring tools
- Maintain consistency in content and ensure alignment with brand guidelines
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, media, or related field
- Experience working with a diverse array of social media platforms
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to think creatively in a fast-paced environment where multitasking and prioritization of work is necessary to succeed
- Experience shooting and editing video content
- Experience pulling analytics from social media to evaluate and inform strategy
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in higher education
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices in social media
Special Information: - This position will be located at our Manhattan or Saratoga Springs, NY location.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Applicants must submit a portfolio of social media work including examples of posts generated.
