Position: IT Academy Instructor
Description:
Lead a hybrid, flipped-classroom model where students engage in self-paced online modules with in-person classroom support for discussion and projects.
Ensure the learning environment is inclusive and accessible for students with diverse needs and learning styles.
Facilitate group discussions and bi-weekly student presentations to reinforce learning and ensure engagement.
Ensure students master both technical and durable skills.
Offer personalized tutoring and feedback to help students understand course material, navigate challenges, and complete projects.
Monitor student progress through the Learning Management System (LMS), providing guidance and intervention as needed to keep students on track.
Support students in preparing for industry-recognized certifications, including CompTIA A+, Data+, and DataSys+.
Assist students with technical troubleshooting, resolving issues related to the LMS, virtual machine environments, and coding platforms.
Act as a mediator in student discussions when challenges or conflicts arise, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
Evaluate student performance through project-based assessments, quizzes, and bi-weekly presentations.
This is
not a remote opportunity and is based on the Job Corps Centers in Batesville, MS, and Memphis, TN.
This is a part-time position – 20-29 hours/week . Flexible hours may be required to accommodate rolling enrollment and student progress.
Instructors must be available for all required Job Corps Instructor meetings or counseling groups and ensure all training requirements are met within a specified timeframe.
Instructors will have access to ongoing support and professional development through the IT Academy and coalition partners.
Requirements: Technical Expertise: - Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Database Administration, Networking, Software Development, or related IT fields.
- Five years experience in an IT-related field.
- Experience with web-based teaching platforms and tools (e.g., LMS, virtual machine environments, coding platforms).
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to online tools, such as virtual machines, coding platforms, and the LMS.
- Familiarity with CompTIA certifications or similar industry-recognized credentials is a plus.
Instructional Expertise: - Experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring in an academic or professional setting.
- Ability to guide students through self-paced learning while facilitating group discussions and supporting project-based assessments.
- Familiarity with flipped classrooms or hybrid learning models.
- Ability to foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment that accommodates diverse learning styles, and encourages trust, empowerment, and resilience among students.
- Must be adaptable and capable of quickly learning new technologies and incorporating modern instructional methods.
- Employs emotional intelligence, conceptual learning, and practical application to help students achieve IT certifications.
