Job Description

Purpose: We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientated Corporate Communications Specialist to join our dynamic team. The Corporate Communications Specialist will support internal and external communications efforts, ensuring Five Star Bank’s voice is consistent, professional and aligned with our mission, and core values.

Essential Functions:

  • Internal communications: Content creation, review and deployment coordination for a variety of internal items. Key responsibilities:
  • Companywide messaging to support effective change management
  • Executive messaging
  • Internal talking points and FAQs to support our teammates in fielding customer inquiries
  • Coordination of content and logistics for monthly companywide calls
  • Public relations: Supports the Director of Investor and External Relations in managing our media relationships, both proactively and reactively, as well as seeking opportunities for promotion of our brands. This includes:
  • Press release development
  • Proactive PR to support business lines, including regular pitching, talking point development, and staffing of interviews
  • Community event support, including talking points development, logistical planning and attendance as needed
  • Media list management, media monitoring and reporting
  • External communications: Content creation, review and deployment coordination for a variety of customer-facing change communications and community-facing promotional and informational materials in coordination with Marketing. Content and format are tailored to specific audience to ensure the optimal delivery of important information and can include:
  • Development and support on letters, emails, talking points, webpage content, and more for customer change communications
  • Assistance with project management and writing support on community report
  • Additional support as needed: Assists the Director of Investor and External Relations with preparation and editing on other material as needed, in addition to maintenance of corporate communications planning calendar.
  • Demonstrate the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience in every interaction with internal and external customers, associates, and stakeholders. Incorporate the high-performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example, and service in every facet of work.

Job Related Qualifications – Education and Prior Experience:

Preferred:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior Experience: 3+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, marketing or related field

Competencies:

  • Excellent writing and editing skills: Ability to modify tone and approach based on the audience (internal vs. external, customer vs. investor, etc.) and concisely convey complicated information in a simple and easily digestible manner.
  • Excellent attention to detail: Ability to keep track of critical facts and ensure precision and accuracy of statements crafted based on information provided, to work with Legal and Risk partners as well as executive team and apply feedback and edits accurately and without error.
  • Communication planning and strategy: Ability to execute on near-term priorities with understanding of long-term organizational goals and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Strong collaboration: Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at many levels of the organization and pull together many voices on a project for the optimum outcome for our brands.
  • Project management: Ability to manage a project involving multiple stakeholders and ensure all major milestones are met to hit hard deadlines. Requires strong organizational and coordination skills, ability to map out tasks and dependencies and forecast time needed for certain steps.
  • PowerPoint: Adept at developing and formatting presentations in PowerPoint for both internal and external use.

  • Able to regularly sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Able to travel occasionally.
  • Extensive computer usage is required.
