Job Description

Job Summary

  • To manage all freight issues.
  • Responsible for combining customer orders on a truck load and routing that load in a manner that is both profitable as well as timely.
  • Quality control of shipping orders.

Primary Duties

  • Performs quality control of shipping orders on a daily basis.
  • Arranges carriers and pick-ups.
  • Assists in completion of log and customer orders.
  • Maintains UPS and Federal Express manifests.
  • General Customer Service from order to receipt.
  • Recommends freight carriers to customers and is responsible for export shipments made.
  • Completes all related paperwork for shipping including bill of lading.
  • Will input data related to shipping loads into AS/400 system.
  • Performs routine office clerk responsibilities such as filing, data entry, ordering of office supplies.
  • Will personally meet with company reps to discuss pricing, service etc.
  • Updates NAFTA certificate of origin for each export customer.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, area, percentages, proportions, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education / Experience

  • One year certificate from college or technical school OR
  • 3-6 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
