Seeking experienced Sign Language Interpreters interested in working with highly engaged students. Requirements: High School Diploma, or equivalent, required. Certificate of completion of an interpreter training program. EIPA/3.0 or higher. Ability to interpret/transliterate in classes for assigned hearing-impaired students. Working knowledge of the Code of Ethics of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Job Description: Details of position/classroom type will differ based on school location. Recruitment Specialists can discuss in detail upon application to connect you to the classroom that best suits your experience and skillset. Contract through the 25/26 school year – 32.5 to 40 hours per week. Contract follows the academic district calendar. Essential Functions: To provide interpreting and transliterating services for hearing-impaired students. Provide interpreting and transliterating services for assigned hearing-impaired student. Uphold and enforce school rules, administration instructions and regulations, Board policy, and state regulations. Assist in the evaluation, in conjunction with the student’s case manager, for the appropriate method of interpreting for hearing-impaired students in mainstream classes. Assist in normal classroom routines and procedures by clarifying concepts, reviewing lessons assigned, and actively guiding students in the completion of required work. Coordinate tutoring or follow-up sessions with students for additional instruction. Interpret at special activities (i.e. captioned films, assemblies, etc.) Perform other duties as assigned.
