Job Description

We are looking for Seasonal Parks Maintenance Workers to join our team in the Parks Division of the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of City parks and trails. Parks Maintenance crew provides care for the City’s parks, open space, trails and related facilities. The City places a lot of emphasis on safety in the workplace. The pay rate for this position is $18.50- $20.50 per hour. City Public Works operations are located at 2101 W Quincy Ave, Englewood. The Parks Division works Tuesday- Friday. Flexible hours may be available during Parks Divisions’ hours of operations depending on the situation.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain grounds and turf in all parks, trails, and street right of ways and City facilities by mowing, line trimming, weeding and grooming.
• Maintain designated landscape effects through pruning, mowing and cleaning debris.
• Plant trees, shrubs and plants as required and maintain existing landscaped areas.
• Maintain parks and other facilities by collecting and disposing of debris, cleaning and hauling garbage, and other park upkeep and repair.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Must be 17 years of age.
• Satisfactory driving record is required for employment.
• Pre-employment drug screen required.
• Basic knowledge of general work hazards, safety procedures and public safety matters.
• Must be able to tolerate a variety weather conditions which may include wet, humid, snowy, sunny, very hot or very cold conditions (depending upon start and end dates).
