Job Description

Basic Function
The operator receives and directs all telephone calls. The operator will communicate with other departments and ensure patients receive efficient and timely care.

Job Relationship
  1. Reports to Communications Supervisor / Communications Manager
  2. Positions supervised: none
  3. Non-Exempt position
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required
  2. One year previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
Job Knowledge
  1. Phone / Communication systems
  2. EMR/PMS Greenway Intergy preferred
  3. Medical Terminology
  4. Healthcare compliance

Skills and Abilities
  1. Good communication skills both verbal and written
  2. Computer
  3. Phone / Communication systems
  4. Legible handwriting
  5. Customer service (patients, physician, co-workers, community, and volunteers) duties in a manner which meets the needs of the patient in a positive, timely, appropriate manner. Demonstrates professional, courteous, helpful and cooperative behavior.
  6. Performs clerical duties within established procedural guidelines
  7. Time management
  8. Attends and participates in all applicable training and development workshops scheduled by the Practice
  9. Maintains work area and equipment in an orderly manner
  10. Performs all duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical Requirements
  1. Good visual acuity, hand-finger dexterity, ability to speak and hear. 
  2. Able to lift and carry in excess of 25 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement. 
  3. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp and stand for extended periods of time.
Standards:
  1. Understands and follows the standards of the Bluegrass Orthopaedic Employee Manual
  2. Understands and follows the Bluegrass Practice Responsibility Program, Code of Conduct and completes all yearly compliance trainings and educational programs.
