The primary role of the Security Supervisor is to assist the Director of Security in the day-to-day operation of the Security Department. The Security Supervisor is responsible for the implementation of security policies and procedures, as well as training programs and support programs for the Hotel. This position's schedule will flex based on the needs of the department.
The Security Supervisor shall ensure that all Security Officers:
- Mentor and train staff on security on Hyatt/department procedures
- Enforce rules and policies with respect and professionalism
- Resolve conflicts with the use of de-escalation techniques
- Analyze situations accurately and implement an effective course of action
- Clearly communicate incident details with management
- Create and approve accurate incident/accident reports as necessary
- Identify and investigate suspicious behavior and irregular activity
- Conduct foot patrols of designated areas
- Respond to alarms and requests for assistance
- Respond to medical emergencies, render aid, and relay information to EMS
- Utilize CCTV systems for investigations and surveillance
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Security
Qualifications The Security Supervisor should be able to demonstrate the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities of supervising a hotel security program on a daily basis and competency in all aspects of the security operations at the hotel. Hyatt Security Supervisors are unquestionably trustworthy; dependable; emotionally mature; punctual; tactful and diplomatic; display poise and self-confidence; sensitive to the needs and attitudes of others. Demonstrated focus on mentoring those they work with.
Basic Requirements: - Must be 21 years of age or older
- Minimum of 2-years work experience in a related field (Physical Security, Hotels, Emergency Services, etc.) required
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule; including morning, afternoon, overnight shifts with weekend and holiday availability
- Model established dress code and grooming standards
- Be of good moral character
Knowledge & Skills: - Ability to lead, mentor, and educate others
- Knowledge of Hotel Operations
- Thorough understanding of Hotel Emergency Response Procedures
- Refined understanding of the principles of Customer Service
- Experience producing clear written and verbal instructions
- Robust problem-solving skills
- Advanced ability to prioritize and performs multiple tasks in dynamic situations
- Proficient in basic computer skills and 2-Way Radio communication
- Sound understanding in Security CCTV Systems, Security Tour Systems, and Investigations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Education & Training: - CPR and First Aidrequired or must obtain within first 90 days of employment
- Certified Lodging Security Officer (CLSO) certification preferred
Physical Requirements: - Physically able to push, lift and carry at least 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during shifts.
