**Job Duties:**
- Perform regular and special MRI tests on patients.
- Check images to make sure they are clear and meet quality standards.
- Follow guidelines for using MRI machines and the right equipment to show the patient’s body correctly.
- Review patient history for any risks, check for metal implants, and prepare patients for safe MRI scans.
- Set controls on the machine to get the right images for each scan.
- Use digital radiography systems to send images from the MRI machine to storage systems.
- Explain the procedure and safety rules to patients, start IVs if needed, position patients, and take images for the tests requested.
- Work according to instructions from Radiologists and follow guidelines from supervisors.
- Use Electronic Health Records to manage patient arrivals and departures for scheduled and unscheduled tests. - Perform other office tasks related to MRI.
- Provide on-call imaging support for the Emergency Department and inpatient areas after regular hours.
- Work with patients of all ages, typically from 6 years old and up.
- Understand human anatomy and how MRI works, including knowledge of MRI safety and physics.
- Help patients prepare for their exams.
- Know how to give and manage contrast media used in MRI, including handling and storing it safely.
- Show knowledge of how to improve MRI performance. - Understand principles of magnetism and safety related to MRI machines.
**Work Schedule:**
- Work any day from Sunday to Saturday, for up to 12 hours per shift.
- Be available for on-call duty on a rotating schedule with other staff.
**Minimum Qualifications:** -
**Education:
** Must have finished high school or an equivalent program and completed a recognized MRI technologist course.
- **Experience:
** At least 2 years of experience using MRI machines, creating and processing images, and assisting with specific MRI procedures. -
**Certification:**
Must be registered as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and keep this certification current. -
**Life Support Certification:
** Must have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association. -
**Background Check:
** Must be able to pass a government background check/security clearance.
