Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

Schedule: Full-Time

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of building maintenance, repairs, renovations, and facility upgrades. This role is responsible for supervising maintenance staff and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards, building codes, and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise across multiple trades, and a proactive approach to facility management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and supervise all maintenance activities, including repairs, preventative maintenance, minor renovations, and equipment servicing.
  

• Oversee building systems and facility operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance.
  

• Manage and monitor contractor work to ensure timely completion and compliance with project specifications and code requirements.
  

• Conduct regular inspections of buildings and systems, recommending and overseeing necessary repairs or upgrades.
  

• Collaborate with Directors and Engineering Managers to assess building needs, support capital projects, and prepare operating budgets.
  

• Ensure documentation of work orders, labor hours, material usage, and compliance with regulatory standards and life safety protocols.
  

• Lead, train, evaluate, and support the growth and development of maintenance staff.
  

• Maintain accurate inventory of tools, parts, and equipment. Ensure scheduled maintenance is performed per manufacturers’ guidelines.
  

• Support fire safety and environmental compliance initiatives and assist during weather-related emergencies as designated “emergency personnel.”
  

Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or trade school certification preferred.
  

• Technical training or apprenticeship in one or more trades strongly preferred.
  

Experience:

• Minimum of 4 years of supervisory or lead experience in facility maintenance or construction management.
  

Licensure/Certification:

• Licensed tradesperson preferred.
  

• Valid Virginia Driver’s License required.
  

Additional Skills:

• Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings; knowledge of CAD and drafting is a plus.
  

• Strong working knowledge of national, state, and local building codes and trade regulations.
  

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  

• Ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and train staff effectively.
  

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computerized work order systems.
