Event Meeting Manager Location Virginia Beach, VA :
Event Meeting Manager Base Salary $47,000.00-$50,000 commensurate with experience - Potential bonus earning of up to 20% of quarterly salary
Overview: This position is a sales and servicing position for smaller events. This position handles the beginning sales contracting phase, details the meeting with the planner and makes sure the meeting runs smooth in house. This position requires someone with strong attention to detail, organizational skills and can multi-task. - Comfortable with hotel site inspections and client presentations.
- Knowledge of sales techniques including strong closing skills as well as negotiating skills.
- Excellent knowledge of computers, specifically Delphi, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups.
- Work closely with banquet department on operations and event execution. Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
- Consistently participate in the re-booking of repeat business by having a track record of long-term client relationships.
- Prepare and send requested proposals and contracts to designated potential clients.
- Coordinate and ensure accuracy of all details to appear on each Banquet Event Order.
Job Requirements Experience, Skills and Knowledge, Education and Experience - 2+ year within the Hospitality or Event Industry preferred
- Must have experience at a similar size and quality hotel.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Delphi.
- Knowledge of sales skills, revenue management, training, and motivation of peers.
- Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market.
- Ability to execute appropriate action plans.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
Work Environment An Event Meeting Manager spends a significant amount of time in a hotel office, overseeing high-profile bookings, researching potential clients, processing paperwork, and making calls. A hotel sales manager also moves around the hotel to meet and greet guests and clients. Some local travel to meet with prospective clients or attend sales conferences may also be necessary.
