Electrical Estimator

Montgomery County, PA

Yearly Salary: $75,000 - $95,000

Are you looking to be part of a forward-moving, energetic electrical contracting company?   We are currently in search of a talented and motivated individual with at least 3-5 years of experience in estimating commercial and industrial projects. Our projects are located throughout /Southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The estimating department is responsible for project-specific construction estimates based on written and verbal instructions from our customers.  
  • Primary responsibility is to develop accurate and timely competitive electrical construction proposals for our customer-base of general contractors, owners, developers and end-users.  
  • Analyze and interpret detailed drawings and specifications
  • Determine and price value-engineered alternatives to plans and specifications
  • Perform budget pricing from schematic drawings and narrative
  • Draft scope letter, proposals and vendor solicitations
  • Attend project walk-throughs, pre-bid meetings, collaborations, and conferences with customer and design professionals
  • Support the on-going development and maintenance of computerized estimating programs and databases; develop congenial relationships with customers and vendors
  • Obtain appropriate permits and inspection costs related to the project
  • Work under deadline pressures in an efficient, composed, and professional manner
Additional Essential Functions: 
  • Work with other estimators, project managers, and project foreman on change-orders and cost-to-complete estimates of on-going projects.
  • Communicate effectively with the general contractor, owner, and/or owner’s representative through negotiations
  • Help create and communicate company standards for estimating electrical design/build and plans and specs work
  • Additional duties as assigned by management

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of electrical estimating experience on single commercial and industrial projects ranging up to 5M
  • At least 3 years’ of experience with design/build projects is preferred
  • At least 2 years’ hands-on field experience is preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency with code requirements and basic electrical engineering calculations: Voltage-drop, Ohm’s law, conduit-fill, wire ampacity, de-rating, etc.
  • Extensive experience with Excel, Word, and one of the major computerized estimating programs (E.g. ConEst, AccuBid, McCormick, etc.)
  • A high school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, Construction Management or similar studies is preferred
  • Analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Able to work independently or as a team player
  • Must possess a positive attitude
  • Must be self-motivated and driven to succeed
