This is a supervisory position that performs under the direct supervision of the Dentist, supervising, motivating, training and evaluating dental assistants. This individual will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. Supervises work priorities and scheduling of daily clinics, assigning workload based on capability and clinic requirements. Directs work of dental assistants to insure maximum use of time. Supervises the overall operation of the dental clinic including scheduling patients’ appointments as needed. Assists in interviewing and selecting dental assistants. Trains and supervises other dental assistants in procedures, methods, use of equipment and properties of material. Assists in development of teaching aids, making continuing education available and encouraging dental assistants to acquire new skills. Assists dentist in the treatment of patients.
